By the coastline just one and a half hour northwest of Santiago lingers Valparaiso, the second largest city in Chile. The city itself is not very appealing – it’s dirty, smelly and quite ugly.
Two exceptions turning an ugly stay in to an inspiering experience are the areas Cerro Conception and Cerro Alegro. We stayed at charming french owned Hostel de Filou for four nights (almost felt like being back in France!) taking in the colorful creativity of the grafittipainted areas.
Concepcion and Alegro are filled with bars, restaurants and cafes with a lot of carachter and fun, creative people. We really enjoyed it a lot!
